Occasionally just sitting still inside the a/c is more than enough for me.
Those times are far more abundant while I was in the summer.
Where I live, the Summer heat is super intense & at times even dangerous. I love to get outside. But when the Summer heat is up, I make sure that I get outside early in order to be in the HVAC cooling when the heat of the afternoon hits. These are the times that I cherish my peace & quiet inside the cooling comfort of the a/c. The other afternoon, while I was chilling in the cooling, I got to thinking just what it must have been like without new HVAC technology while I was in the summer. I know that if this was the case now, as much as I love it here, I might have to make other arrangement while I was in the summer. But there wasn’t new HVAC technology until the mid 50’s. Before that, you were lucky to have a fan or at the truly best, a swamp cooler. A swamp cooler is an evaporative air cooler that uses the evaporation process to cool the air a bit. This is an infancy cooling system that is still used around the globe. But there were many, several people who just had to find a shady spot & hope for a breeze. It sort of makes myself and others believe like a real wimp when I consider how hard that way of life must have been. But more than anything, thinking about all those years ago makes myself and others all that more appreciative to like the HVAC cooling in my home.
