I have been researching the various brands and models of furnaces on the current market. From what I’ve been able to find out, the top manufacturers all provide a similar version. The best furnaces are Energy Star qualified and achieve up to 98% AFUE ratings. They include an adaptable speed compressor that allows the equipment to make tiny, one percent adjustments in capacity, anywhere between 40 and 100%. The system automatically caters output to match the needs of the indoor environment. There is rarely a time when a heater needs to blast at maximum capacity. The furnace is able to run at lower speeds for longer cycles. The advantage is that there are less temperature fluctuations, less concerns with overly dry air and lower energy usage. These state-of-the-art furnaces further accommodate zoned control and wifi connectivity. From a series of thermostats installed in each room, I’d be able to tailor the temperature setting. I could keep the bedrooms cooler during the day or target a higher temperature in the kitchen without affecting the rest of the house. Zoned control would further help to trim operational costs. With smart thermostats, I could manage the whole system through an app on my smartphone. A new furnace would also include a manufacturer’s warranty. Since my current heater is over twenty years old and constantly requiring minor repairs, I am eager to replace it. Despite the rather high cost of purchase and installation, I know that a new furnace would save quite a bit on my utility bills and service costs. It would gradually pay for itself, and we’d get to enjoy superior comfort and air quality.
