About a year ago, I noticed that whenever I cooked something with a strong odor, the odor would spread throughout the whole apartment and linger for a long time.
It made myself and others know that both of us might have complications with indoor air pollen levels.
If odors were getting trapped in the house, I assumed that dust, dander, pollen bacteria and other toxins were also contained inside. With all of the recent complications with covid, I worried about the health of our living environment. I called up a local Heating and Air Conditioning supplier and asked them to complete testing and give recommendations. The professional checked the oil furnace, cooling system and HVAC duct and found a considerable buildup of dust inside the equipment, then she completed a full cleaning and advised that I replace air filters more often. She also told myself and others about the benefits of in-duct air cleaners. This type of purifier treats the air as it passes through the ducts. It also sends ions into the apartment that kills pathogens and causes particles to clump together and fall out of the air. I now make sure to have the oil furnace and cooling system professionally cleaned every year. I am diligent about replacing air filters every several weeks. By taking better care of the heating and cooling system, I am hoping that it will operate more reliably, last longer and give better comfort. Since installing the air cleaner, I’ve noticed the apartment stays a lot cleaner. I don’t need to vacuum or dust as often and cooking odors no longer hang around. I have a lot more confidence in the quality of our breathing air.
