Always look for the silver lining and don’t worry about the rest

I used to love my job.

Being a HVAC technician had been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid.

My dad would take me along with him when he was doing service on furnaces and air conditioning units. He instilled a sense of work ethics and the want to be a HVAC technician while I was working with him. As soon as I graduated high school, I went to a career center and found where the nearest HVAC courses were being held. I ended up taking a college course at the local community college. Two years later, I was a HVAC specialist. I had an associates degree in HVAC and I was beginning my career. I would have never thought I could become as upset with my job as I was now. My wife always tells me to look for the silver lining when something upsets me. Right now, there is no silver lining. We have a new owner who seems to be trying to push out all of the HVAC technicians who were under the old owner. I was ready to throw in the towel and quit. My wife told me that maybe this was just the beginning of a new career. I didn’t want a new career because I still wanted to be a HVAC technician. I had all the training I needed to be a HVAC contractor. She smiled when I said that, and said maybe I’m looking in the wrong place for the silver lining. That was three years ago, and I am now a HVAC contractor with my own growing business.
