My brother is nearly sixty years old and he wants a new career. He said he’s tired of working, not two days ago, but now he wants to find a new career. I began to laugh which made him a bit angry. He had been a HVAC technician for almost forty years now, and I couldn’t see him doing anything else. I was sure that he had no other skills other than heating and air conditioning. Then he told me he needed a new career, and it was laughable. He told me that he was thinking of taking over the local HVAC company. The owner was retiring and he needed someone to take over the company until he got someone to buy it from him. I wondered if he wasn’t considering buying the company himself. He had another good fifteen years in him, and maybe running the HVAC company would be easier on him, than being a HVAC technician. I gave him a hug and apologized for laughing, but he surprised me. I explained that I couldn’t see him doing anything but HVAC. He said he was considering buying the company, but he was going to run it for a couple months before making the choice. The owner was stepping down, but he wasn’t going to put the business up for sale until my brother made his decision. I wished him luck, because I knew that if he was even considering owning the HVAC company, it was life changing for him. My brother never made a decision without giving it a lot of thought.
