Now we are no longer hot in any room for the house.
I am big about bringing natural light into the home. My husband and I are surrounded by trees and it makes the inside of our house dark. We have added tons of high powered, recessed lights. We have painted all the bedrooms white and put down light gray tile floors. The home still isn’t very bright. Now I am moving onto adding windows and making existing ones larger. The kitchen window expanded a foot. The laundry room has its own window. I then added sliding glass doors in the living room. All that glass does create a lot of natural light. It makes the house look bigger and airy. What it also does is make everything hotter though. The sun now comes pouring into the house. The living room is downright boiling now. Washing dishes isn’t comfortable with the sun coming in. My husband and I never owned an AC until we changed our windows. The trees provide shade and our area wasn’t that hot. With all the new sunshine coming in, AC became a must. Thankfully our house was outfitted with ductwork that could still be used. We had a HVAC dealership install central air conditioning to the house. Now we are no longer hot in any room for the house. Having that cold air during the peak of summer is a very nice perk. It added value to our house as well. It is annoying that we had to buy more after spending a bunch on new windows. Will the constant expenses never stop?
