I Needed to Program My Thermostat To Optimize Efficiency

While the heating and air conditioning professional was servicing my heating and air conditioning system, I stopped him and asked him for some tips on energy saving.

My heating and cooling unit wasn’t old by our normal standards, but it was young either, and I felt terrible that I was paying more than normal for my daily utility bills.

I didn’t have much to compare it to, although I thought that the heating and air conditioning professional could help me out with this issue. She provided us with several tips and one of them I was already doing. First, she said that I needed to continue having my heating and cooling system maintained at least twice per year. Heating and air conditioning professionals are certified to keep heating and air conditioning systems running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Secondly, she suggested that I lower the thermostat settings when I wasn’t in the lake house and at nighttime. If I was setting the thermostat to run my gas furnace at 76 degrees while in the daytime, then I should set it at least 5 degrees lower while in the evenings and while I was away. In doing so, I would keep my lake house hot without causing my gas furnace to run hard. When I was ready to return home, I could adjust the thermostat back to 76 degrees so I was comfortable. I liked this idea, although I thought it was a lot of work. I wanted to save cash although I didn’t want to always be messing with the thermostat settings. When the heating and air conditioning professional heard this, she suggested that I program the thermostat to match the pattern of my life. I thought this was an excellent idea that she gave me and I plan on sticking with it for good.
