The time to pull the trigger on whether or not to move out of the city was upon us.
Our children were at an age where waiting much longer would mean ripping them out of schools and a social life that could be really tough on them.
But my wife and I were sick of living in the city. We’d been in the same apartment building with the same radiant heating every winter since we’d been married. And the both of us grew up like this in very similar circumstances since we were both city kids. Given that we no longer had to work exclusively inside the zone controlled HVAC of an office building, we could move. And that’s what we ended up doing. We found what was an old farmhouse sitting on about 8 acres. It was really perfect but would need some work to fit our lifestyle. There wasn’t any heating and cooling on the second floor. There was ductwork for central air conditioning downstairs but none upstairs. And that’s right where the kids were going to have their bedrooms. So some quality heating and air upstairs was the first order of business. The local HVAC company came through for us with a ductless multi split system for upstairs. It was the perfect solution and the kids actually loved this heating and cooling method. Once the kids were set with their ductless heat pumps, my wife and I could look to other areas for renovating and making this place our own. The HVAC equipment with the central air conditioning was awesome as it was the latest in residential HVAC and a part of the upgrade prior to the house going on the market.
