Every Springtime, there is a farm in our local area that offers sheep shearing adventures.
For a small amount of money, you get to sleep with the sheep & assist with the shearing. They have two bunkhouses that are shared by everyone. I wasn’t overly gleeful about sharing a bunkhouse with anyone other than my family, although I was really agitated when I found out that all of us had to share outdoor powder rooms. I remember using an outhouse when my Grandma was alive, & between the smell & the cold, I would hold it until I could no longer. Not only did the bunkhouse reek from the smell of the sheep, however it also had the smell of mingled bodies. There was a lack of heating, ventilation & A/C in the bunkhouse, which would have been great considering the eveningtime temperatures were still in the forties. Not only was heating, ventilation & A/C nonexistent, there was no whole-house air purifier. I honestly would’ve been okay without Heating, Ventilation & A/C, however the joint bunkhouse absolutely needed air purification. My teenagers were having a blast, although I was hating every minute. When I saw the sheep shearers nick a single of the sheep, I got quite nauseous. I saw the small trace of blood running down its side, & I almost cried. I think this will not be a yearly adventure, & I’ll have to find something unusual for my teenagers to enjoy. From here on out, I’m going to make sure there is Heating, Ventilation & A/C wherever all of us go, & air purification. There is no way I can repeat the adventure all of us had this year.
