After graduating from high school, my parents did not give me any kind of timeline when I had to go to college, get a job, or anything else.
- I had already talked to my parents about my hesitancy about going to college.
Not that I didn’t want to go to college, but I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to go to college for. I couldn’t see wasting two years and thousands of dollars in college when I didn’t even know what I should pick as a major. I knew too many people who wasted those first two years, and just pick something out of the blue that they would never use once they got out of college. I knew there were a lot of jobs opening in our area, but once again, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Being a boy, I was sure my parents were going to issue me an ultimatum to either get a job or go to college, but it never came. After three months, I had been talking to the HVAC technician in our local area. He told me they had classes opening up at the local community college, work take the courses to become an HVAC technician. Within six months, I would be ready to take my certification course and become an HVAC technician. For the first time since I graduated almost 4 months earlier, I had a plan for my future. I wanted to become an HVAC technician.Even before talking to my parents; I went down to the local community college and got all the information I could find on becoming an HVAC technician.
