If you live in an area that experiences extreme weather that might cause the power to go out for multiple days, then it can be very convenient to have a generator. A generator is a great plan for an emergency when the power is out. Generators come in different sizes, makes, and models. They also serve entirely different purposes. I considered buying a generator to help during the summer when we experience a loss of power due to hurricanes. Summertime weather can be bad at times, especially when there is tropical activity. The power was out for a week or two during some storms and I wished that I had a generator that would run the whole house. I had a small generator to keep the refrigerator running, but it did not service the entire house. My wife and I decided to contact a licensed electrician to get a quote on a generator. We actually contacted a couple of licensed electricians in my neighborhood so we could get several different estimates. After we had an idea of the prices, we looked at all of the pros and cons and made a decision to have a large generator installed at the house. We went with a generator that has 7,000 watts of energy. Our home is quite large and we wanted to be sure that the generator would run all of the appliances and the AC unit.
