I quit going to large chain corporation fitness centers because I like small businesses.
There’s something about the personal touch of a locally owned business that I love.
My favorite grocery store now is a business that has been owned by the same family for 25 years. They stock as many local meats and produce items as possible so that nearby farmers and agricultural workers are supported by their patrons. The lights and aisles feel like you’re strolling through a lucid dream, unlike the cold and run-down look of so many chain grocery companies. They’re always playing vibrant jazz music as well instead of the dull pop standards that are the norm in other grocery store type businesses. Unfortunately, their prices aren’t always the cheapest so I’m still required to get a few things at Walmart or I wouldn’t be able to afford them. But by and large, that grocery store is why I seek out similar small businesses like the fitness center I’m attending now. They’re great and they even purchased a new HVAC system recently. They were having problems with their air conditioner in particular and had their commercial heating and cooling company install a new one right away. I’ll admit, I started to sweat a lot on the treadmills over the past month as their air conditioner dwindled in quality. I’m thrilled that I won’t have to worry about this for much longer as the new air conditioner is finally installed. I heard they replaced their furnace as well, which means this place will be comfortably warm once winter rolls around.
