Poor air quality during detention

It was another afternoon in detention, and this time around, it was not something that was not my doing. Thirty minutes later, it was getting a little too stuffy for comfort. Even the teacher on duty noticed the change in indoor air quality. Being a person who can barely keep still, I was bored out of my mind. When it was evident that there was something wrong with the air quality systems, I asked the teacher if I could look at the HVAC unit. At first, she thought I was joking or I wanted to leave detention- which I was, but when I insisted, she asked me if I had ever dealt with an air purification system. When I told her that my guardian was the local contractor who offered home services and I had learned the workings of some heat and AC products, she called the maintenance guy who led me to the unit. The first thing I checked was the air filter. It was so dirty, and I was relieved that it was a washable filter, so I cleaned it to help with indoor comfort. The next thing was to check the thermostat, which had a high temperature. After inspecting the HVAC equipment and finding that everything was okay according to the little knowledge, I checked out the ductwork. There were leaks, and since I did not have any duct tape, they would have to call the HVAC company so that an HVAC professional for duct sealing and duct cleaning not just because the air ducts had layers of years of dust but also to find a possible blockage in the vents. The HVAC technician would have a run for his money during the HVAC maintenance. By the time I returned to class, detention time was almost over.
