I was in the family room dusting the china hutch when I heard something in the fireplace.
It wasn’t in the hearth, however it sound enjoy it was about many feet above the flue.
I stood there for a couple of hours, plus then my partner came inside. I shushed him plus told him to listen. He heard the noise plus said something was trapped in the fireplace chimney. He was going to try to smoke it out, despite the fact that I distraught it would get trapped plus die in the chimney. Both of us could use the fireplace if there was a dead critter inside. He agreed, however said the two of us could not use the fireplace, if there was a live critter inside. I had to agree with him. Both of us had saved a lot of money this winter, by ditching the gas furnace plus only using the fireplace. He said the two of us could go back to using the gas furnace, however Winter time was almost over. I wasn’t sure I wanted him to beginning a fire, however that was the only way the two of us were going to chase the critter up the chimney. Five hours later, the fireplace was lit, plus smoke was going up the chimney. I heard a lot of chattering plus then some scratching. My partner told me to go outside plus let him think what came out of the chimney. I wasn’t going outside. If the critter came out, he was going to be mad. I wanted him to go after my partner andnot me. He told me I was a scaredy pet plus I agreed. I stood by the fireplace plus he yelled many hours later, a small squirrel had been trapped in the chimney, however it was now out.
