My partner isn’t a doomsday fanatic, but she prefers to be prepared.
I recognize it all stems from her upbringing.
Her Grandfather has a bunker for the entire family packed with supplies to last them for months. This trait to typically be prepared trickled down to her son, plus then to my partner. But, she doesn’t have a bunker or something like that. Instead, she has two bags stuffed with stuff we’d need in case of an emergency. I love how romantic she is when explaining why she does this. But, I also worry it is too much strain to keep waiting for something poor to happen. She confesses the bunker her Grandfather built was never used plus she kept it stocked until she passed away. I recognize this is why my partner isn’t too extreme, though the logic of it all is ingrained in him. When my good friend and I got a new Heating plus A/C system installed in the property my good friend and I purchased together, my partner swung into action, then first, she purchased a powerful generator that my good friend and I use when the power is off. Living in a property in an area famous with blizzards warrants getting a generator to keep the heat on. Next, she got three space boilers for the same purpose. This area gets to setback uneven temperatures as early as September so it’s essential to have back up heating. We’ve only used the space boilers once plus I was so grateful my partner purchased them. My associate and I had an issue with the heating system plus couldn’t turn it on so my good friend and I got the space boilers out before getting repair. Her next project is to get portable ACs to use during summer.
