My partner walked into the home last week and started sniffing.
- I thought he was smelling our lunch, which was just about done.
I waited for him to tell me how nice it smelled, but instead, he wrinkled his nose. He asked what the smell was that was coming from the furnace? I didn’t smell anything, but I had been in the home all day. He said he remembered the smell as a child and said it smelled like the smell bug his mom had killed one day. The smell was in the home for afternoons. I knew all about smell bugs and how they would make their way into HVAC duct through small holes and cracks. The heat from the furnace would kill them and they would end up smelling up the entire house. He called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C and made an appointment to get professional HVAC duct cleaners to the house. He wanted the HVAC duct cleaned and sanitized. He then called an exterminator. He told them he suspected an infestation of smell bugs and needed them out of the HVAC duct so it could be cleaned and sanitized. Not only did he unaffix numerous hundreds of smell bugs, but he eliminated thousand of smell bug eggs. He couldn’t feel they had spread so far, and they had survived so well inside the HVAC duct. He said my nice friend and I were lucky they stayed in the HVAC duct and not gotten in the house. I was now itching and asked him to check the home to make sure they were only in the HVAC duct. He laughed and said my partner had already asked him to do it.
