Several years ago, I moved to the southern part of the country, plus while I adore it here, the weather can be pretty brutal.
In fact, we are in the middle of our second heatwave for the season plus it’s not even Summer yet.
So, who knows what’s to come this year. Anyway, a few weeks ago, we had a major heatwave where the uneven temperatures rose into triple digits for 4 consecutive afternoons. At first, things were fine, but then my a/c decided to break down after the second day of the heatwave. I rent a 2-family room townhouse, so when the a/c broke down, I instantly contacted the building owner. In my head, I believed that I would have air conditioning system the next day, however, I was shocked when my building owner told me that it would take various afternoons to get the a/c fixed. Apparently, due to the heatwave, there was a high demand for service. I know my a/c wasn’t the only one that broke down during that time. If you have never lived separate from an a/c in the middle of a heatwave, let me assure you that you don’t ever want to deal with that. In my opinion, it was one of the most miserable experiences that I have had in my town to date. Thankfully, my building owner was able to provide a temporary solution, she provided a portable a/c. While the portable a/c can only cool small spaces, it kept my family room cool. So, I was able to sleep comfortably at night. It took 4 afternoons to fix the a/c plus I couldn’t have been more enthusiastic when it was back up plus running.
