I look forward to going on vacation every summer. My family and I like to rent out a condo for a week. We also like to plan activities for the week that we are there. The type of activities that we like to do is go snorkeling if we are near a beach or go hiking if we’re out west or in the mountains. Last summer we experienced all of the National Parks. A lot of memories were made with my family that I will never forget. When we leave to go on our week long vacation in the summer my family likes to make sure that our house is closed up. This means that we will lock our front and back doors, close our window curtains, turn off our water heater, and set the programmable thermostat to a lower temperature. We do this because we want to save energy and money while we’re away when there’s no one living in the house. My dad showed me on our last trip how to shut off the water heater. It was a simple switch that I turned off but I was curious and wanted to know more about it. My dad told me that the type of water heater that we have is a storage water heater. This is the most common type of water heating system in many homes today. my dad also told me that this type of water heater can hold and provide 20 to 80 gallons of hot water a day. It is always good to take the necessary precautions to closing down your home when you go on vacation.
