Old buddy shows me the HVAC light

This was the first time my old college buddy was visiting me in our new city.

He and I went back 25 years and were maybe even better friends now than we were back in the day.

That sometimes happens and I’m real thankful that it happened for us. Still, we don’t get to be in each other’s physical presence all that often. But that will change now that I moved north. I hate the HVAC heating bills and am not a fan of the cold weather at all. So having my dear friend close enough where we can visit each other every few months really helps soften the blow. I’m from the south where our winter is tamed by the heat pump. He’s from the north where he’s quite accustomed to the gas furnace and all that goes with heating a house. Now that I’m in the north due to a job transfer, his heating prowess really came in handy. The first night he spent in our house, he actually commented on the chill. I replied that’s what you get when you live up north right? We had a laugh and I got him a sweater. But the next day while we were out and about, we stopped at a hardware store. My buddy purchased an instant read temperature gun there. I was sort of clueless until we got home. Then we went out and he started measuring the temperature all around the exterior of our house. What he found was a whole lot of places where the HVAC treated heating was leaking out. Thanks to his winter weather knowledge, I’m now toasty warm in our house and the HVAC heating bills are under control.
