I can't stand the smell of weed

I started college in August and the transition has been filled with anxiety, stress and problems.

I am already thinking about dropping out and it is only the middle of October.

I’m not having any trouble with my classes or professors, but my dorm roommate is getting on my nerves. The guy has a medical prescription to use weed and he smokes in our dorm room. I tried to complain to the resident advisor, but there isn’t anything that she can do since my roommate has a medical prescription. I can’t stand the smell of weed and everything in our room smells like marijuana. I told my mom and dad that my clothes and my books smell like reefer, and they sent me money to buy an indoor air purifier. I didn’t want to spend $100 on an indoor air purifier, but my roommate wasn’t going to stop smoking. Luckily, the air purifier removes all of the nasty odors from our room. My roommate thought I was being a baby, when I went to the hardware store and bought an air purifier to get rid of the smoke. After I started using the machine for three or four days, both of us realized how badly our room smelled like smoke and marijuana. I hoped the fresh indoor smell would make my roommate stop smoking in our dorm, but he isn’t going to change any of his habits. I’m stuck in a hard place. I have to live with the guy for the next eight months and that feels like punishment.
