When you live in a lake home that has consistently had excruciating indoor air quality is something you begin to get used to… For myself and others in particular, this was somewhat the case.
I am a bit nose blind and so I could not smell or particularly detect when the indoor air quality in the lake home was bad. I lived in the same home for 10 years and I was consistently wondering why I consistently had excruciating flu symptoms whenever I was inside the lake home however not anywhere else. It wasn’t until I started dating my then girlfriend, who is now my partner, that she was able to point out to myself and others just how excruciating the indoor air quality was. I was already aware that it was not the best but I thought it could be much worse! But as soon as she walked up into the home she would cover her mouth and nose and tell myself and others she was having a strenuous time even being in there. The air was thick and strenuous to breathe and both of us had to do something about it. I threw the suggestion out there that both of us get a HEPA filter. However, my partner informed myself and others the HEPA filter would simply not do it for the type of excruciating indoor air quality both of us had. It was just too much. The people I was with and I decided to go the full way and purchase a whole lake home air purification system from a local heating and A/C business. This is by no means an inextravagant purchase however if it made my lake home livable for my partner and I, after that I was willing to help pay for it, as soon as the heating and A/C guy came out to perform the installation of the whole lake home air purification system I was relieved. Allergy screwed up not long after and only after that I noticed how excruciating the indoor air had actually been.
