Adding central air conditioning

Because of the weather in my local area, central air conditioning isn’t essential.

  • We operate the furnace for more than half the year.

We deal with long months of below-freezing temperatures and constant snowfall. After spending a small fortune on the heating bills, it’s always a relief to lower the thermostat and open the windows. I was content with box fans and window air conditioners for the brief summer season. It wasn’t until my daughter was diagnosed with extreme asthma and allergies that I began looking into central cooling. Having open windows welcomed in pollen, dust, fumes, bugs and all sorts of allergens. She was struggling to breathe and dealing with congestion, sore throat, itchy eyes, headaches and constant sneezing and coughing. We needed to improve our indoor air quality for the sake of her health and quality of life. The installation of a central air conditioner wasn’t overly expensive because the ductwork was already in place for the furnace. I spent extra on a high-efficiency cooling unit to keep our running costs low. Having the air conditioner running keeps the house perfectly cool and comfortable. The system circulates the air and filters out contaminants, improving the cleanliness of the living space. It helps to prevent issues that are caused by high humidity, such as mold growth, bacterial growth and higher dust mite population. Since adding the air conditioner, my whole family sleeps better at night and enjoys more energy and greater productivity during the day. The cooling system has made a big difference in my daughter’s daily activity levels, health and happiness.
