I typically hated physical education when I was in school.
In middle school there was only one P.E.
class and we were all grouped together. I hated these classes because I was an unathletic nerd with a weight problem, so I was an easy target for the bullies. This was especially pertinent when I let down my peers when playing team sports. There was one particular time when we were playing football when I accidentally fumbled while we were ahead and caused the team to score a touchdown just seconds before the clock ran out in the fourth quarter. Needless to say, there wasn’t enough time to catch up and we lost. I faced so much ridicule that I went home and cried myself to sleep that night. By the time I got to high school, I didn’t want to take any P.E. classes but the school was adamant that I choose one. I decided to take the weight lifting classes with my friend who was on the junior varsity football team as a linebacker. That’s what exposed me to the world of weightlifting and bodybuilding. Soon I had a gym membership to a nearby fitness center and was going several times each week to work out and do cardio exercises. Unfortunately, I had to put my gym obsession aside while I was in college. Once I earned my four-year degree, I was eager to get back into weightlifting again so I went back to my old gym from years ago and signed up for a gym membership contract again. The price has gone up, but so has everything else amid historic inflation rates right now.
