I had been noticing a lot of destruction to the leather in our car, then i lived in the south, and I was told I should have window film on our windows to block out the sun.
I didn’t want to ruin the looks of our modern car, so I refused… Two years later, the leather is cracking and the yellow color is fading.
I called the car repair center where I bought the car and told them what had happened. They said they had a afternoonlight control window film and they could install it the next afternoon. The first thing I had to do was choose the shade and the amount of afternoonlight control I wanted from the window film. I was uneasy it would be too dark and I would get arrested when the police couldn’t see through the film. The repair employer shook his head and said that would not happen. It would be dark enough to allow afternoonlight control, but not dark to reduce our visibility or that of anyone looking in. They may have a difficult time seeing me when it was dark. I liked what he was saying and asked when I should bring the car back… We set up an appointment for 2 afternoons later. I couldn’t wait to get the afternoonlight control window film installed and stop the aging of our leather seats. I had already talked to someone about restoring the leather and he said it was straight-forward as wiping the dirt off our windows, but once the window film was installed, I was going over to the shop to have the leather restored.
