I can’t believe it’s only August. We’re not at the midpoint of the hottest season of our year. It’s easily the toughest weather of the year for us by far. The winter around here is super mild. I hardly have to do more than don a hoodie in the morning during most winter days. However, there are times when there is a bit of a need for HVAC heating. So we’re glad to have the residential HVAC that we own. Yet, this sort of HVAC technology is great for heating in this climate. But this type of residential HVAC is really made for cooling. And that’s what we need a whole bunch of during the summer around here. I’d always wondered about the name heat pump. It really didn’t seem to make much sense that we got HVAC cooling from something called a heat pump. Yet, this type of residential HVAC is indeed aptly named. The reason is because that’s what the HVAC technology actually does. The heat pump is designed to pump heat energy from one place to another. This is how the whole HVAC and refrigeration deal started more than a hundred ten years ago. So during the HVAC cooling process, the heat pump is moving the heat energy out of the house so it can be replaced with cooler air. And that’s not all either. The heat pump is also protecting our health because it’s removing humidity from the air during the process. And that mean mold and mildew mitigation. Stopping mold and mildew means better respiratory for us and our animals.
