I actually learned that I appreciate hydronic heating from the last place I rented before I purchased my own home.
The house was hooked up with a nice boiler system hooked up to some radiators throughout the residence.
I remember how pleasant the hydronic heating felt in the winter. Honestly, I didn’t even need to use my humidifier because the heating system puts additional moisture into the air which is really nice. When I purchased my first home, I didn’t care that the place was equipped with an oil furnace. It was a very old one too, but at least it was serviced properly over the years as the previous owners had records of the work that was done. Still though, I wasn’t planning on using the oil furnace. I had plans on installing radiant heated floors in my home right away. So I made the arrangements and we had a boiler system installed that was hooked up to radiant heated floors in most parts of the house. In some of the other areas, I chose to do electric heating mat installations for those heated floors because I didn’t want to have to rip up any flooring. The radiant heated floors cover most of the house though because we have a huge basement where they could be installed directly underneath the flooring up above which covers the whole living room, the bedrooms, and the kitchen. We had to do the electric mat heating in the bathrooms, but those floors feel pleasant! We are using radiators in the rooms upstairs.
