I realize that it’s not always easy to put our hard earned money into preparations or for maintenance.
Yet, taking care of the stuff that takes care of us is just essential when you’re a grownup and a homeowner.
Luckily, I had great role models when it came to just how to be good at being an adult. My parents were always on top of stuff like HVAC maintenance, changing the oil in the cars and keeping the yard kept up. It made a big difference as well. The money they spent taking care of the stuff that was taking care of them was an investment. And that investment was one that always, always paid dividends. I saw first hand how investing in preventive maintenance is just such a pivotal move. So when I bought this house, I sort of tried to mirror what I had witnessed while living in the quality heating and air of my folks’ place. When I replaced the heating and cooling equipment after I bought the place, I made an immediate move toward HVAC maintenance. I called the HVAC company like the day after the heating and cooling equipment was installed. That’s when I first joined the HVAC service plan. Since then, we have gotten HVAC heating maintenance in the fall every year. And every spring, the HVAC professionals come out to do the air conditioning tune up. It’s been 18 years and we have never experienced any heating and cooling downtime due to an HVAC equipment breakdown. That’s what I’m talking about when it comes to the value of HVAC maintenance.
