It’s funny how there is just so many things in my life that are so important but I really don’t know all that much about them.
- That’s the way it is when it comes to stuff like the heat pump.
Here this most important appliance in our home provides the necessary heating and cooling to me and my family but I don’t know how. That was something I chose to rectify. And I wasn’t that interested in just looking it up online and getting some thumbnail sketch that was dumbed down for somebody like me. I wanted to hear it from an HVAC professional. So when it was time for the heating maintenance last fall, I was home and I asked the HVAC technician if I could tag along. He was super happy to especially when I explained why. This HVAC technician was super passionate about quality heating and air. The great thing was that he showed me just how the heat pump works. I had no idea that it’s called a heat pump because it actually moves heat energy from one are to the next. So when the heat pump kicks on during a warm summer day, the first thing that happens is the heat energy is moved. In the case of residential HVAC, that means the heat pump extracts the heat energy from the house and exhausts it outside. But that’s not all it’s getting rid of. At the same time, the heat pump is reducing the moisture in the air which then balances the humidity level. That’s why we don’t have to fight mold and mildew all summer. The heat pump mitigates mold growth with humidity control.
