When my wife and I moved up here, we had like a very short window to buy a house.
This was only the second time we had purchased or owned a home with our own HVAC equipment. So it wasn’t like we were some real estate wheeler dealers. Still, we had to find a place and find it fast because the company wanted me up here like yesterday. And the apartment they furnished initially was not up to a fierce winter since it had inadequate heating. And coming from a place that didn’t experience this sort of winter, I didn’t want to deal with lame HVAC heating. But the universe smiled on us because when we walked into this house, we knew we were home. There was stuff that we wanted like a new gas furnace and updated central air conditioning with the HVAC technology we wanted. The schools were great and I could get a train to work just across the street. So we were in. Once the winter hit, we sure were glad to have the gas furnace. And the seller had recently replaced all the windows with double panes along with all the weather stripping. We were cozy except for one room toward the back of the house. This was a problem room because it just never seemed to warm up like the rest of the house. I had the window checked for insulation and even had the HVAC professionals check the ductwork. But nothing. Fast forward a decade to when I saw an add for room to room ventilator fans. That was the answer! I put those in and adjoining wall for that room and the heating is now perfectly equalized.
