Washable Air Filters

Washable air filters appeal to some homeowners.

They eliminate the need to buy, change, & discard air filters.

You save cash, & those disposable air filters you didn’t buy don’t end up in landfills. It is worth looking into washable filters, also known as electrostatic or permanent filters, because they can pay for themselves over time. As the return air is drawn into the Heating & Air Conditioning system, disposable air filters trap particles in the fibers by trapping them in the fibers. When air passes through a washable air filter, made of numerous layers of vented metal, particles are attracted by static charge. When particles accumulate on the filter, they need to be washed away or the filter will cease to work. In general, electrostatic air filters are good at collecting dust particles, however not as effective at stopping particles like mold spores & pet dander. Electrostatic air filters, however, are of satisfactory appeal to several homeowners that they are willing to switch over to them. You will need to disinfect these filters every 1-3 months if you switch to these filters. Some models require you to take them apart & scrub the layers, a process that wears out the filters over time. Before reinstalling the Heating & Air Conditioning unit, they must also be thoroughly dried. Furthermore, electrostatic filters eliminate the hassle of constantly replacing & discarding air filters. Although they will not last forever, they should last between multiple & more than four years on average.
