I have ridden horses since I was a little girl, and was very heavily involved for most of my youth.
I worked at horse barns to get the lesson horses ready and earned myself free riding privileges for many years. Then I finally owned my own horse and lived close enough to ride her for hours every day. Truly, I was obsessed with the animals and got quite skilled at riding and handling them. That’s why it was so surprising the day that I was bucked off and broke my leg. I’ve never sustained a serious injury before, so this was especially strange. Now I was suddenly holed up at home, barely able to hobble to the bathroom even. It became a big problem with the heating and cooling in my house, because of the medicine I was constantly alternating between being hot and cold and needed to adjust the thermostat time and time again. The faulty heater was really acting up and wouldn’t hold a steady temperature, either. I tried keeping myself right next to the thermostat, so I could easily switch between the furnace and air conditioner as needed, but then I was further away from the kitchen and bathroom. Eventually, I decided enough was enough and had a space heater shipped to my house. Now I can turn the little heater on as needed, and just drag it around the house with me so it’s always conveniently at hand. I can’t wait for this leg to heal so I can go back to being fully mobile and using a regular HVAC system again.
